Whatever is in there
It wishes to come out
Don't bitterly greet it
With resistance and doubt
Allow yourself to surrender
Which seems counter to culture
Our culture at least
Where tension is normal
But it can't be ignored
This voice left unspoken
Don't hold it in your throat
Your chest, and abdomen
Hollow it'll become
Corrosion, erosion
A hole in the pit of your stomach
Is from this unmet emotion
Your hopes and purpose
Motives and scope
Your whole expression exposed
Impressionist portrait
Evoke what your withholding
Drop the rope, pick up the brush
Pick up the pen, pick up the microphone
And open up.
